Everyday tips helping you elevate your home space. Check it out below!
Many of us think we have zero skills in home decorating or that we have no creativity or style, but YOU DO. You see all those Pinterest posts and fancy Instagram pages filled with pictures of elegant homes and high-end décor and wish your home can look that like. BUT IT CAN.
Your home has the potential to look modern and elegant. It's all about those home décor tricks and here's one of them: The Rule of Three.
The rule of three suggest that things grouped in three's are visually appealing and flow better. There's a Latin phrase that goes "omne trium perfectum" - meaning everything that is in three is perfect. To the Chinese, the number three is considered lucky. Biblically, the number three represents divine wholeness, completeness and perfection.
Are you starting to sense that the number 3 is a big deal here?
Do items really need to be grouped in three's?
What about grouping items in two's or four's or more? If it works then great! However, a single items can come off as boring and off balance. More than 4 items grouped together can look overwhelming and create clutter. You know your home the best and you'll know what looks great!
How to start? Keep these things in mind:
Use items that have 3 different heights - small, medium, and large.
Choose a complementary color, style or theme in these 3 items.
Experiment with different shapes until it flows together.

There's so many example for using this rule so here's some to get you brainstorming:
three different height vases
two different height vases and a frame
accent chair, accent table, and wall art
vase, vintage book, candle
frame, vase, candle
floor lamp, accent chair, wall art
large olive oil jar, medium coffee jar, small sugar jar
lantern, vintage book, candle
If you need inspo, I have these sets of 3 vases, set of 2 vases, and this single vase from Amazon around my home that I've paired off with other things. Check them out!
Bonus Tip: Use trays to elevate the look. Adding a glass tray or a complementary colored tray underneath the items can give it an extra touch.
Here's a start for you to begin this in your home TODAY.
Take a few minutes right now and go pick out three items in your home that fit the rule of 3.
Place them together and experiment how and where to work this rule in your home. (The bedroom? Coffee table? Night stand? Kitchen?).
Take a photo and email me your creation. I'd love to see it and help with any questions!
